Bowie State’s Dr. Brown Named to 2023 Emerging Leaders Seminar Selection Committee

BOWIE, Md. – Bowie State Athletics Academic Improvement Advisor Dr. Marie Brown has been selected to serve on the Emerging Leaders Seminar Participant Selection Committee announced earlier this month. Dr. Brown previously attended the Emerging Leaders Seminar in 2016.
“I am honored to serve on the committee tasked with selecting the next group of emerging leaders and future sports administrators,” said Dr. Brown. “The wealth of knowledge I gained when I was selected to attend is invaluable and laid the foundation for success.”
Alumnus of Bowie State, Dr. Brown is in her fifth year as an Academic Improvement Advisor at Bowie State. In her role, she works closely and champions student success throughout the student-athlete academic lifecycle by succeeding with innovative student-centered courses, programs, services and initiatives.
The seminar is a three-day virtual program that educates, develops and connects selected participants and equips young professionals in attendance with the skills to accelerate their career progression in college sports. This professional development event offers leadership, educational and bridging programs for current graduate assistants and interns from NCAA member schools, conference offices and affiliate organizations. Along with other committee members, Dr. Brown will ensure that the participant base is a strong group of people who are eager to grow professionally and personally. Additionally, the committee will help participants prepare to implement what they learned in the seminar on their respective campus or conference office, as well as to return and lead discussions with student-athletes. , coaches and fellow administrators.
This year’s program will take place virtually from February 8-10, 2023.
